A LITTLE HARD WORK NEVER HURT

Lyrics by Stan C. Countz © July, 2008

These days everyone’s surfin’ on the internet
Who has time to fix the car or paint the fence?
We’re giving all the hard jobs to the Orient
No need to be so tense, it don’t make no sense

We complain that aliens are takin’ all our jobs
Yet we refuse to do work we consider below us
If I was a bettin’ man I’d bet against the odds
If we were paid by the job, we’d be the slowest

We’ve been through tough times before
We did what we knew had to be done
We washed dishes or mopped the floor
A little hard work never hurt no one

Today we moan and complain about the high cost of gas
We can’t pay our mortgage but we won’t mow our grass
I’ve got a tough question I’ve been dyin to ask________
When will we stop bellyachin’ and start facin’ the facts

We can’t fix what’s ailing us with another bond or tax
We need to worry less about bombs and terrorist attacks
And focus on moms and dads fightin’ like dogs and cats
We have to stop actin’ like a bunch of spoiled brats

Or will we keep looking for answers in a keg or a flask?
When will we take off our gloves and remove our mask?
This looming downswing may soon be a thing of the past
If we’ll just roll up our sleeves and face the task at hand

If you ask the right questions, you’ll soon understand
It may not be quite as easy as at first we had planned
So let’s roll up our sleeves and face the task at hand
Ask and you shall receive and He will heal our land

You may think I’m a little bit sick or nutty
But don’t blink ‘cuz I’m a real quick study
I’ve been stinkin’ dirty and I been muddy
But a little hard work never hurt nobody

We’ve been through tough times before
We did what we knew had to be done
We washed dishes or mopped the floor
A little hard work never hurt no one
